1936 Alta Sports 2.0-Litre Supercharged ???? RARE pre-WWII British Racecar driven by Harald Mössler.

I enjoyed filming this rare 1936 Alta Sports 2.0-Litre Supercharged driven by Austrian Harald Mössler. This is an extraordinary car, one of the few built-in that year, probably 6 in total, and despite being before the Second World War, it's used in Hillclimb races for historic cars. Over the years, I have had the pleasure of filming it in action at the 43rd edition of Alpe del Nevegal and, more recently, in Emilia-Romagna for the Bologna-San Luca Bologna & Raticosa Competitions. The Alta company was founded by the young British Geoffrey Taylor, who designed and built the cars practically on his own in his home. This engineer also designed the engine, a true masterpiece, with an aluminium cylinder block, heads with a hemispherical combustion chamber and a double overhead camshaft driven by a chain. With the Roots-type compressor, this Alta Sports could develop about 180 HP with a maximum speed of over 190Km/h. This made Alta one of the fastest pre-war sports car manufacturers, especially in the 2-litre class.

Ho avuto il piacere di filmare questa rara Alta Sport 2.0-Litri del 1936 dotata di compressore e guidata dal pilota austriaco Harald Mössler. Si tratta si una vettura straordinaria, una delle poche costruite in quell'anno, probabilmente 6 in totale e nonostante sia antecedente la Seconda Guerra Mondiale, viene utilizzata delle gare in salita per auto storiche. Negli anni ho avuto il piacere di filmarla in azioni alla 43a edizione dell'Alpe del Nevegal e più di recente in Emilia-Romagna per le Competizioni Bologna-San Luca e Bologna Raticosa. L'azienda Alta fu fondata dal giovane britannico Geoffrey Taylor che disegnò e costruì le auto praticamente in proprio nella sua abitazione. Questo ingenere progettò anche il motore, un vero capolavoro, con blocco cilindri in alluminio, testate con camera di combustione emisferica e doppio albero a camme in testa azionati da catena. Con il compressore tipo Roots questa Alta Sports poteva sviluppare circa 180 CV con una velocità massima di oltre 190Km/h. Ciò ha reso Alta uno dei costruttori di auto sportive prebelliche più veloci, specialmente nella classe da 2 litri.
