At the final race of the Classic Endurance organized by Peter Auto during the 2016 Imola Classic were present a great number of beautiful cars in the GT1 category. Among these I could not fall in love with the Epic sound coming from the glorious 1969 Chevrolet Corvette C3 V8 engine owned by the crew A. Strebel/P. Gerling. The big 7.0 liters engin is moved by a 4-speed gearbox and is capable of 500 hp, but more mprossive must be the enormous torque. How can you hear from the video the car changing gears only few times...Other interesting aspects are the braking system consists of ventilated brake discs with four-piston calipers, independent arms front suspension with coil springs and rear transverse leaf spring. A car with these characteristic ompeted six years consecutively at the 24 Hours of Le Mans! Enjoy one of the most epic V8 sounds that I heard race at the Imola racetrack! ;-)

Nella tappa conclusiva della Classic Endurance di Imola Classic 2016 organizzata da Peter Auto erano presenti molto splendide vetture in categoria GT1. Fra queste non ho potuto evitare di innamorarmi dello splendido suono che usciva dal glorioso V8 della Chevrolet Corvette C3, anno 1969 dell'equipaggio A. Strebel/ P. Gerling. Il grosso motore da 7.0 litri di cilindrata viene mosso da un cambio a 4 velocità ed è in grado di sprigionare 500 CV, ma quello che più fa improssione deve essere l'enorme coppia. Come di sente dal video l'auto in realtà cambia poche volte le marce, segno che il motore sopperisce tranquillamente all'uso del cambio. Altri aspetti interessanti sono l'impianto frenante costituito da freni a disco ventilati con pinze dotate di quattro pistoncini, sospensioni anteriori indipendente con bracci e molle elicoidali e posteriore indipendenti con balestra trasversale. Una vettura con queste caratterisctiche venne iscritta per sei volte alla 24 Ore di Le Mans! Godetevi uno dei più epici suoni V8 che ho sentito girare in autodromo ad Imola! ;-)
