2024 BMW M Hybrid LMDh Hypercar - V8 Twin-Turbo Engine Sound at Imola Circuit - Fly-Bys & Downshifts

This is the second consecutive day of testing for the BMW M Hybrid V8 LMDH, which will participate in the FIA World Endurance Championship in 2024. We are still on the Imola circuit, but this time, a splendid but cold sunny day accompanied the long day of development. The Belgian WRT Racing Team, with drivers Krohn, Martin, Van Der Linde, Vanthoor, Harper and Hesse, was chosen to compete in the WEC championship. We remind you that in 2023, the BMW M Hybrid V8 LMDH participated in the American IMSA SportsCar Championship with Team Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing in the GTP class. The German manufacturer's first victory came precisely at the 6 Hours of Watkins Glen with car number 25 of drivers De Philippi and Yelloly. The conditions for doing well in the WEC are all for the car that has chosen to mount the Dallara chassis based on the LMP2 cars, a carbon fibre monocoque. The engine is the 4-litre (244.0 cu in) BMW P66/3, a twin-turbo V8 capable of developing 477 kW (640 hp). There is also an MGU electric powertrain at the rear wheels, supplied by Bosch, which produces 50 kW (67 hp). The gearbox is a 7-speed sequential manual Xtrac P1359. It has been 25 years since BMW participated in the top series of Endurance competitions, winning the 24h of Le Mans with the V12 LMR model built in collaboration with Williams F1. Seconda giornata consecutiva di test per la BMW M Hybrid V8 LMDH che nel 2024 prenderà parte al FIA World Endurance Championship. Ci troviamo sempre sul circuito di Imola, questa volta però una splendida ma fredda giornata di sole ha accompagnato la lunga giornata di sviluppo. La squadra belga del WRT Racing Team con i piloti Krohn, Martin, Van Der Linde, Vanthoor, Harper ed Hesse è stata scelta per competere nel campionato WEC. Ricordiamo che già in questo 2023 la BMW M Hybrid V8 LMDH ha partecipato al campionato americano IMSA SportsCar Championship con il Team Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing nella classe GTP. E proprio alla 6 Ore di Watkins Glen è arrivata la prima vittoria del costruttore tedesco con la vettura numero 25 dei piloti De Philippi e Yelloly. Le premesse per fare bene nel WEC ci sono tutte per la vettura che ha scelto di montare il telaio Dallara basato su quello delle vetture LMP2, una monoscocca in fibra di carbonio. Il propulsore è il BMW P66/3 da 4 Litri (244.0 cu in), si tratta di un V8 twin-turbo capace di sviluppare 477 kW (640 hp). Vi è inoltre un propulsore elettrico MGU alle ruote posteriori, fornito da Bosch, che sviluppa 50 kW (67 hp). Il cambio è un Xtrac P1359 manuale-sequenziale a 7 rapporti. Sono passati dunque 25 anni da quando BMW ha partecipato alla massima serie delle competizioni Endurance vincendo la 24h di Le Mans con il modello V12 LMR costruito in collaborazione con Williams F1.
