After two years I was able to see again in action two incredibles Ferrari 512BB LM during the Classic Endurance Racing at the 2016 Imola Classic by Peter Auto. This model is really crazy. After the failure of the first small series of 5 units the Ferrari worked hard on the BB LM with a second development program in late 1978. The flat-12's carburetors were replaced with an electronic fuel injection system to increase power to 470 hp, a new bodywork developed by Pininfarina improved the aerodynamics with the tail that lengthened to the maximum allowed by regulations. From 1979 to 1982 were constructed 25 cars and the best result was a fifth overall and first in the GTX class at the 1981 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Dopo 2 anni ho potuto rivedere in azione queste due incredibili Ferrari 512BB LM durante la Classic Endurance racing all'Imola Classic 2016 organizzata da Peter Auto. Questa vettura è davvero pazzesca. Dopo i deludenti risultati della prima piccola serie costruita in 5 unità, la Ferrari ha lavorato duramente sulla BB LM con un secondo programma di sviluppo verso la fine del 1978. I carburatori presenti sul motore 12 cilindri boxer sono stati sostituiti con un sistema di iniezione elettronica per aumentare la potenza a 470 CV. Una nuova carrozzeria sviluppata da Pininfarina ha migliorato l'aerodinamica con la coda che allungata al massimo consentito dai regolamenti. Nel periodo 1979-1982 sono stati costruiti 25 esemplari ed il miglior risultato è stato un quinto assoluto e primo della classe GTX alle 24 Ore di Le Mans del 1981.
