Alfa Romeo 8C Monza (1934) Carrozzeria Brianza - 2.6-Litre Straight-8 Supercharged Engine Sound!

This lovely 1934 Alfa Romeo 8C Monza, Carrozzeria Brianza, took part in the 2022 edition of the Modena Cento Ore with the English crew of Timothy A. Hartnoll & Rupert Bravery. They competed in the regularity section. I must say that I was surprised to see it in blue; it could be a tribute to the one piloted by Helle Nice at the time. Unfortunately, I found very little information on the car, and I regret not having spoken to the crew to get to know the car better. Therefore, I can't tell you if the vehicle is a replica or original; it must be said that from 1931 to 1934, about 188 chassis were produced for the coachbuilders, including the most famous Touring and Zagato. A few 8C Monza 2300s also made it to Carrozzeria Brianza, and this could be one of those cars. The engine designed by Vittorio Jano in the 1933-1934 cars passes to a displacement of 2.6-Liters (originally 2.3-Liters), and the 8-cylinder Straight-8, equipped with a Roots-type supercharger, is capable of developing 180 hp (134 kW ) at 5,600 rpm. The gearbox is a four-speed manual with reverse, rear-wheel drive, and bodywork built with aluminium panels, and the overall weight is about 920 Kg. The performance was very high, reaching a maximum speed of 225 Km/h ( 140 mph). The 8C models have been competitive and victorious over the years of production, and we can certainly remember how the decade of the 1930s was among the best in the marque's sporting history. Questa splendida Alfa Romeo 8C Monza del 1934, Carrozzeria Brianza, ha preso parte all'edizione 2022 della Modena Cento Ore con l'equipaggio Inglese formato da Timothy A. Hartnoll & Rupert Bravery. Hanno gareggiato nella sezione regolarità. Devo dire che sono rimasto sorpreso di vederla in colorazione blu, potrebbe essere un'omaggio a quella all'epoca pilotata da Helle Nice. Ho trovato davvero pochissime informazioni sulla vettura e mi rimmarico nel non aver parlato con l'equipaggio per poter conoscere meglio l'auto. Non so dirvi se la vettura sia una replica oppure sia realmente originale, c'è da dire però che dal 1931 al 1934 furono prodotti circa 188 telai destinatati ai carrozzieri, tra i più famosi Touring e Zagato. Qualche 8C Monza 2300 arrivò anche alla Carrozzeria Brianza e questa potrebbe essere una di quelle vetture. Il motore progettato da Vittorio Jano nelle vetture 1933-1934 passa ad una cilindrata da 2.6-Litri (originariamente era 2.3-Litri) e l'8 cilindri in linea, dotato di compressore volumetrico tipo Roots è in grado di sviluppare 180 hp (134 kW) a 5.600 giri/min. Il cambio è manuale a quattro rapporti con retromarcia, trazione posteriore, carrozzeria costruita con pannelli di alluminio ed il peso complessivo dell'auto è di circa 920 Kg. Le prestazioni erano molto elvate, capace di raggiungere una velocità massima di 225 Km/h (140 mph). I modelli 8C sono stati competitivi e vittoriosi duranti gli anni di produzione e possiamo ertamente ricordare come il decennio degli anni 30 sia stato tra i migliori nella storia sportiva del marchio.
