On the 22nd of November 2003, England took on their old rivals Australia in the Rugby World Cup final at the Telstra Stadium in Sydney. It was one of the closest finals in Rugby World Cup history, and with the scored tied at 17-17, the match went to extra time with both teams digging deep to try and take home the Webb Ellis Cup. It was England who came out victorious thanks to a final minute goal from Jonny Wilkinson to break the hearts of the Wallabies, becoming the first Northern Hemisphere nation to win the trophy.
