For the first time I've seen in action a beautiful 1977 BMW 320i Turbo Group 5 ex BMW Junior Team and brought to the track from the French driver Charles Veillard during the last round of the Classic Endurance Racing organized by Peter Auto at the Imola track. The car was prepared by BMW Motorsport to replace the 3.0 CSL and is equipped by a Formula 2, 4-cylinder 2-liter, turbocharged engine capable of 300 hp. The transmission is a 5-speed Getrag manual gearbox and the weight of the car is 878 Kg . At that time this BMW was driven by the trio consists of Eddie Cheever, Marc Surer and Manfred Winkelhock. Officially were built 28 cars in the years 1977/78 and the Italian driver Bruno Giacomelli, called to replace Cheever, conquered the title of European Turing Cars Champion. Indeed a pleasure and an honor to have filmed this car in action, enjoy the exhaust flames!

Per la prima volta ho visto in azione una splendida BMW 320i Turbo Gruppo 5 del 1977, ex ufficiale BMW Junior Team e portata in pista dal francese Charles Veillard durante l'ultimo round della Classic Endurance Racing organizzata da Peter Auto sul tracciato di Imola. La vettura venne approntata dalla BMW Motorsport per sostituire la 3.0 CSL ed è equipaggiata da un motore di Formula 2, 4 cilindri da 2 litri, turbo e capace di 300 cv Il cambio è un Getrag a 5 marce ed il peso si assesta a 878 Kg. All'epoca l'auto era pilotata dal trio delle meraviglie composto da Eddie Cheever, Marc Surer e Manfred Winkelhock. Vennero costruite ufficialmente 28 vetture nel biennio 1977/78 e l'italiano Bruno Giacomelli, chiamato in sostituzione di Cheever conquisto il titolo di campione Europeo nella categoria touring cars. Davvero un piacere ed un'onore aver ripreso quest'auto in azione, godetevi le sfiammate!
