BMW E21 320 Group 5 - 304 bhp & 9.000 rpm Legend in Action - Nürburgring AvD Oldtimer Grand Prix

I had the pleasure of filming this fantastic 1977 BMW 320 E21 Group 5 in action during the 46th AvD Oldtimer Grand Prix 2018 at the Nurburgring Circuit. At the end of the 70s, BMW ordered that a new Group 5 racecar was to be developed based on the lighter E21 chassis and powered by the M12 Formula 2 engine with Kugelfischer mechanical fuel injection.
The engine developed a power of 304 BHP at 9.250 rpm. Other interesting technical data are are the weight of 740 kgs, a 50/50 weight distribution, fibreglass doors, lids, wings and aluminium materials in the suspension. During the 1977 season, the Faltz Team took part in the competitions with two cars and the drivers were Ronnie Peterson and Hans Joachim Stück. The cars were orange with Jägermeiser livery. They won some races but not the championship.

Ho avuto il piacere di filmare questa fantastica BMW e21 320 Gruppo 5 del 1977 in azione durante il 46th AvD Oldtimer Grand Prix 2018 sul circuito del Nurburgring.
Alla fine degli anni '70, la BMW ordinò di sviluppare una nuova auto da corsa Gruppo 5 basata sul telaio della E21 più leggero e dotata del motore M12 di derivazione Formula 2 con iniezione meccanica Kugelfischer. Il motore era accreditato di una potenza di 304cv a 9.250 giri/min. Altri dati tecnici interessanti sono il peso di 740 kg, una distribuzione di peso 50/50, porte in vetroresina, cos' come appendici e parti aerodinamiche mentre largo uso di alluminio venne adottato per le sospensioni. Durante la stagione 1977, il team Faltz partecipò alle competizioni con due macchine ed i piloti furono furono Ronnie Peterson e Hans Joachim Stück. Le auto, di colore arancione avevano livrea Jägermeiser. Vinsero alcune gare ma non il campionato.
