After two years I was able to see again in action the incredible Ferrari 512 M, (specifically a 1971 model) piloted by the crew Steven Read/Giovanni Lavaggi during the Classic Endurance Racing at the 2016 Imola Classic. This car is really crazy, built in the early 70s to battle against then competitive Porsche 917K was a modified and improved version of the 512S. Unfortunately Ferrari didn't develop the car as deserved, the potential was huge, as I have listening by Nino Vaccarella, who recently spoke about as could become competitive that car. Ferrari, however, had already decided to focus on the 312B, ready to compete with the new regulations in 1972. Moving on to the technical data, you can realize how the car was performing. The 5 liters V12 mid-engine produce 610cv at 9000 rpm and pushes the car who weigh just 815 kg! I must admit that it was a pleasure and an honor to enjoy the sound that epic V12 engine in the perfect Imola racetrack acoustics! It worth a trip to Imola the rac just to see this car in action! Dopo 2 anni ho potuto rivedere in azione l'incredibile Ferrari 512 M, nello specifico un modello del 1971 pilotata dall'equipaggio Steven Read/Giovanni Lavaggi durante la Classic Endurance racing all'Imola Classic 2016. Questa vettura è davvero pazzesca, costruita agli inizi degli anni '70 per battagliare contro le allora competitive Porsche 917K era la versione modificata e migliorata della 512S. Purtroppo non si sviluppò la vettura come avrebbe dovuto, il potenziale era enorme, come ho avuto modo di constatare ascoltando Vaccarella che ricorda quanto potesse diventare competitiva quella vettura. Ferrari aveva però già deciso di concentrarsi sulla 312B pronta a gareggiare con i nuovi regolamenti in vigore dal 1972. Passando ai dati tecnici, potete rendervi conto di quanto fosse performante la vettura. Il motore V12 da 5 litri di cilindrata, in posizione cantrale/posteriore è accreditato di 610cv a 9.000 giri/min e spinge il corpo vettura che pesa solo 815 Kg! Devo ammettere che è stato un piacere ed un onore godere del suono che emette quel V12 nell'acustica perfetta di Imola, una magina! Valeva la pena di assistere alle gare anche solo per vedere questa vettura in azione.
