Ferrari 640 F1 (F1-89) ex Nigel Mansell - 3.5-Litre V12 N/A Engine, Warm-Up & Sound, Mugello Circuit

We take a dip in the past with this lovely Ferrari 640 F1 (F1-89) ex Nigel Mansell. We are at the Mugello circuit for the "Corse Clienti" program, with the session reserved for Formula One single-seaters. Collector Holger Lange took to the track allowing us to hear the melody of the naturally aspirated 3.5-Liter V12 engine. By the end of the 1989 season, the engine had reached an output of 660hp at 13,000 rpm. Designed by John Barnard, equipped with a carbon fibre monocoque frame, it's the first single-seater in Formula One to adopt a semi-automatic gearbox, in this case with seven speeds. Practically the forerunner of what would become the standard, increasingly developed, up to the present day. Externally compact car compared to current ones, it's 4400mm long, 2130mm wide, and weighs only 510Kg. Although it was a very innovative and competitive car, with three wins, 4-second places and two third positions, it was not very reliable with many retirements. Factory pilots Gerhard Berger & Nigel Mansell ended the constructors' world championship in 3rd place with 59 points. Con questa splendida Ferrari 640 F1 (F1-89) ex Nigel Mansell facciamo un tuffo nel passato. Ci troviamo sul circuito del Mugello per il programma "Corse Clienti" con la sessione riservata alle monoposto di Formula Uno. Il collezionista Holger Lange è sceso in pista permettendoci di ascoltare la melodia del motore da 3.5-Litri V12 aspirato. Alla fine della stagione 1989 il propulsore aveva raggiunto la potenza di 660hp a 13.000 giri/min. Progettata da John Barnard, dotata di telaio monoscocca in fibra di carbonio, è la prima monoposto della Formula Uno ad adottare un cambio semi-automatico, in questo caso da 7 rapporti. Praticamente l'antesignana di quello che sarebbe diventato lo standard, sempre meglio sviluppato, fino ai giorni nostri. Vettura esternamente compatta rispetto alle attuali vetture, è lunga 4400mm, larga 2130 mm e con un peso di soli 510Kg. Nonostante fosse una monoposto molto innovativa ed a tratti competitiva, 3 vittorie, 4 secondi posti e 2 terze posizioni, risultò poco affidabile con molti ritiri. I piloti ufficiali Gerhard Berger & Nigel Mansell chiusero la stagione mondiale costruttori al 3° posto con 59 punti.
