Madisyn Cox became the fastest American this season and moved up to No. 5 in the world this season in the women's 200m individual medley. Cox's time of 2:10.00 tied her 2019 national championship-winning swim and was enough to edge Melanie Margalis (2:11.03) and Kathleen Baker (2:11.95).
“It was fun,” Cox said. “I knew (Kathleen) Baker was going to beat me out on the butterfly and I just tried to hang with her on the backstroke. I wanted to have good tempo and save my legs for the breaststroke and then give freestyle everything I had.”
