Merzario A3/1 Formula One car (1979) - Race Actions - 46 AvD Oldtimer Grand Prix Nurburgring 2018

I had the pleasure of filming this rare (if not unique) Formula One A3 / 1 Merzario that took part in five Grand Prix in the 1979 season of the world championship. Here you see it during the 46 AvD Oldtimer Grand Prix 2018 at the Nurburgring circuit, led by the owner Bruno Ferrari who proceeded to restore it. This was the first car built entirely in Carate Brianza (Italy) and was not a derivation of the March 761-B02 as the previous A1 and A2. The engine is a Ford Cosworth DFV V8 90°, 2993 cc, power 480 HP at 11,000 rpm and the transmission is a Hewland FGA 400 6-speed. Unfortunately, it was never a competitive single-seater, but it's nice to know about this second life in the European championship for Formula One historic cars.

Ho avuto il piacere di filmare questa rara (se non unica) Merzario A3/1 di Formula 1 che partecipò a cinque gran premi nella stagione 1979 del campionato del mondo. Qui la vedete ripresa durante il 46 AvD Oldtimer Grand Prix 2018 presso il circuito del Nurburgring, guidata dal proprietario Bruno Ferrari che ha proceduto a restaurarla. Questa fu la prima vettura costruita interamente a Carate Brianza e non era una derivazione delle March 761-B02 come le precedenti A1 ed A2. Il motore è un Ford Cosworth DFV V8 a 90°, cilindrata 2993 cc, Potenza 480 HP ad 11.000 giri/min ed il cambio è un Hewland FGA 400 a 6 velocità. Purtroppo non fu mai una monoposto competitiva ma è bello sapere di questa sua seconda vita nel campionato Europeo destinato alle vetture storiche di Formula Uno.
