After the Houston Rockets posted one of the greatest offensive seasons in the history of the NBA, coach Mike D'Antoni was named 2016-17 NBA Coach of the Year at the NBA Awards Show on June 26, 2017. Led by James Harden, D'Antoni's team set an NBA record for 3-pointers in a season and finished third in the Western Conference.

The official award show, held at Basketball City at Pier 36 in New York City, will present awards for Kia NBA Most Valuable Player, Kia NBA Rookie of the Year, Kia NBA Sixth Man Award, Kia NBA Defensive Player of the Year, Kia NBA Most Improved Player and NBA Coach of the Year among others.
