Opel Monza Gilden Kölsch Works Car ex Herbert Herler/Jörg Döring/Ralf Stommelen at Mugello Circuit!

I'm pleased to show you the Opel Monza Gilden Kölsch Works Car ex-official Herbert Herler/Jörg Döring/Ralf Stommelen seen for the first time in action after a long restoration at the Mugello circuit in Italy. I have to thank Stephan & Matthias Jocher of the Jocher Racing Team for being very kind to me allowing to install an action camera in the cockpit. They also gave me a lot of information about the car and thanks to that I can write you something about the vehicle's history. This is the only Gilden Kölsch ex-official Racing Team with lightened bodywork who won the European championship in 1980. In the 1981 season, the Monza got second place at the 24h of the Nurburgring, while at the same race in 1982, after a break, it was sold on the placed to a Sicilian team. The car then raced until the 1986 season, remaining in Italy, and then all traces were lost. Then, five years ago, Mr Stephan Jocher found it in Rome and bought it. After a careful restoration that brought it to the splendid current conditions, the car is ready to race again in the European championships dedicated to touring cars. The historic cars Peroni Race Weekend was the first official test to verify its correct functioning. Mechanically it mounts the 3.0-Liter inline 6-cylinder Opel engine currently developing 290hp and moved by a 5-speed manual gearbox. The weight is very low at around 1,000 kg. Enjoy! ????

Ho il grande piacere di mostrarvi la Opel Monza Gilden Kölsch Works Car ex Herbert Herler/Jörg Döring/Ralf Stommelen vista per la prima volta in azione dopo un lungo restauro sul circuito del Mugello, in Italia. Devo ringraziare Stephan & Matthias Jocher del Jocher Racing Team per essere stati molto gentili nei miei confronti ed avermi permesso di istallare una action cam nell'abitacolo. Mi hanno inoltre fornito molte informazioni dell'auto e grazie a questo posso scrivervi qualcosa sulla storia dell'auto. Si tratta dell'unica Gilden Kölsch ex ufficiale del Racing Team con carrozzeria alleggerita che ha vinto il campionato Europeo nel 1980. Nella stagione 1981 ha ottenuto il secondo posto alla 24h del Nurburgring mentre alla stessa gare del 1982, dopo una rottura è stata venduta sul posto ad un team Siciliano. L'auto ha quindi corso fino alla stagione 1986 restando in Italia e poi si sono perse le tracce. Cinque anni addietro Mr Stephan Jocher l'ha trovata a Roma e l'ha acquistata eseguendo un'accurato restauro che l'ha portata alle splendide condizioni attuali. L'auto è pronta per correre nuovamente nei campionati europei dedicati alle vetture turismo e la gara per auto storiche svoltasi durante il Peroni Race Weekend è stata la prima prova ufficiale per verificarne il corretto funzionamento. Meccanicamente monta il motore Opel a 6 cilindri in linea di 3.0-Litri attualmente capace di sviluppare 290hp mosso da un cambio manuale a 5 rapporti. Il peso è molto contenuto aggirandosi intorno ai 1.000 Kg. Buona visione! ????
