The Porsche 935 is one of those mechanical marvels that any motorsport fan would enjoy seeing live in action at least one time. You could understand why the racing golden-age has passed... Based on the 911 Turbo its 2.850cc engine developed the power of 560hp if the turbo pressure was adjusted to 1.2 bar and 630hp at 1.5 bar pressure ( in the later double turbo version). The weight was only just 970 kg. The Porsche engineer Norbert Singer developed the aerodynamics and he did an incredible job, earning the front lights, widening the bodywork and creating wings everywhere. The versions you can see in the video is the 935 K3 improved by Kremer brothers who consistently modified the aerodynamics and mechanics again. They increased the displacement engine to 3.200cc keeping the twin turbochargers by KKK. At the pressure of 1.7 bar the engine developed 800hp at 8,000 r/min. Among the successes of the 935 K3, we can remember the first and second place at the 24 Hours of Le Mans (1979), in 1980 the first place at the 12 Hours of Sebring and in 1991 the 24 Hours of Daytona victory. La Porsche 935 è una di quelle meraviglie meccaniche di cui ogni appassionato dovrebbe godere nel vedere in azione almeno una volta nella vita. Capirebbe perchè l'epoca d'oro del motorsport è già passata...Realizzata sulla base della 911 Turbo il suo motore di 2.850 cm³ era accreditato di 560 cv se la pressione del turbo era regolata a 1,2 bar e ben 630 CV con pressione ad 1,5 bar, nelle ulteriori versione con doppia turbina. Il tutto per soli 970 Kg di peso. Grazie ad evidenti buchi nel regolamento dell'epoca, l'ingegner Norbert Singer che ne sviluppò l'aerodinamica fece un incredibile lavoro, incassando i fari, allargando la carreggiata e creando appendici ed alettoni ovunque. Le versioni che vedete riprese nel video sono le 935 K3 migliorate dai fratelli Kremer che intervenirono in modo consistente nuovamente sull'aerodinamica e la maccanica. Aumentarono la cilindrata del motore a 3.200 cm³ mantenendo la doppia sovralimentazione tramite turbocompressori di dimensioni maggior forniti dalla KKK. Alla pressione di 1,7 bar il propulsore sviluppava circa 800 CV ad 8.000 giri/min. Fra i successi della 935 K3 nel 1979 possiamo ricordare il primo e secondo posto nella 24 Ore di Le Mans, nel 1980 il primo posto alla 12 Ore di Sebring e nel 1991 la vittoria alla 24 Ore di Daytona.
