Rain had the final say as South Africa and Australia’s tri-series one-day international at the Kensington Oval in Barbados on Sunday was rained out with only one over bowled in the match.Australia won the toss and elected to field and South Africa reached 8-0 after one over before the heavens opened. Rain, a damp pitch and then more rain forced the umpires’ hands and they eventually had no choice but to call the match off. Quinton de Kock was on five not out while Hashim Amla had yet to score. The no-result will not be the way that South Africa captain AB de Villiers will want to remember his 200th ODI. Both teams receive two points for the no-result which means that SA remain top of the log on 12 points, one point ahead of Australia and four points ahead of the West Indies although the host nation does have a game in hand on their opponents. South Africa’s next match in the tournament is against the Windies in Barbados on June 24.
