The Most Powerful Players in Volleyball History. 5. Yuji Nishida (西田 有志, Nishida Yūji, born 30 January 2000) is a Japanese male volleyball player. Currently, he plays for JTEKT Stings in V.League Division 1.

Nishida made his debut with JTEKT Stings at V.League on 6 January 2018 in a match against Osaka Blazers Sakai. His impressive debut at the young age of 17 soon earned him a position in JTEKT's Starting 6,[3] as well as Japan men's national volleyball team. Nishida also led the team finishing 7th place after 29 years, in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Nishida is one of the youngest players in the 2018 roster of the Japan men's national volleyball team and FIVB cup Final.[4] He made his first international performance with the Japanese national team in 2018 FIVB Volleyball Men's Nations League. In June 2018, he played a pivotal role in securing Japan's first win in 11 years against Italy where he collected 24 points from 21 spikes and 3 aces.[5] In September 2018, in a match against Argentina in 2018 FIVB Volleyball Men's World Championship, Nishida became the youngest player ever to score 30 points in a match.[6] In June 2019, Nishida broke serving records in the VNL history after hitting 7 aces in a single game during a match against Canada.[7]

Nishida transferred to play for Volley Callipo in the Italian Volleyball League for the 2021–22 season.[8][9][10] He received MVP of the match awards thrice in spite of an injury and subsequent 2-month recovery. Nishida would become the highest scorer of his team, with a personal one-match record of 29 points, and held the record for the most aces in one match during the league's first round of the 2021/22 season with 8 aces.

Bartosz Kamil Kurek (born 29 August 1988) is a Polish volleyball player, member of the Polish national team, participant at the Olympic Games (London 2012, Rio 2016), 2018 World Champion, 2009 European Champion, 2012 World League winner, three–time Polish Champion (2009, 2010, 2011), Italian Champion (2014). In 2019, he became the first ever volleyball player to be voted the Polish Sports Personality of the Year.

In 2014, he was a member of the Polish national team during the 2015 European Championship qualification. He was not included in the Polish national team for the World Championship held in Poland.[13]

After a one year break, he came back to the national team on 28 May 2015 during the first match of intercontinental round of the World League against Russia (3–0).[14] He was a top scorer of the match (15 points).

On 30 September 2018, Poland achieved its third title of the World Champion.[15] Poland beat Brazil in the final (3–0), and defended the title from 2014. Kurek received an individual award for the Most Valuable Player of the tournament.

Ivan Vyacheslavovich Zaytsev (Italian: [ˈiːvan ˈdzaittsef, -ev]; Russian: Иван Вячеславович Зайцев, IPA: [ɪˈvan ˈzajtsɨf]; born 2 October 1988), nicknamed lo Zar ("the Tsar"), is an Italian volleyball player of Russian origin, the captain of Italy men's national volleyball team, a bronze medalist of the Olympic Games London 2012, silver medalist of the European Championship (2011, 2013), bronze medalist of the World League (2013, 2014), Italian Champion (2014) and silver medalist of the Olympic Games Rio 2016.

In 2015 Zaytsev and Italian team achieved silver medal of the 2015 European Championship and Zaytsev was named Best Opposite Spiker. In 2016 he achieved a silver medal at the 2016 Olympics.

György Grozer (born 27 November 1984), also known as Georg Grozer, is a German volleyball player of Hungarian origin, a member of the Germany men's national volleyball team and Italian club Vero Volley Monza, a bronze medalist of the 2014 World Championship, two–time German Champion (2009, 2010), Polish Champion (2012), Russian Champion (2013), Chinese Champion (2017).

Robertlandy Simón Aties (born 11 June 1987) is a Cuban volleyball player, a member of Cuba men's national volleyball team from 2005–2010 and from 2019 to present day and also Italian club Cucine Lube Civitanova, 2009 NORCECA Champion, silver medalist of the 2010 World Championship, double South Korean Champion (2015, 2016).
