On this week’s show we discuss some of the worst decisions made by Premier League clubs this season. Liverpool have been left exposed by injuries in their back-line, and in hindsight probably shouldn’t have sold Dejan Lovren as they battle it out for a place in the Champions League next term.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has dropped off dramatically since signing his latest contract at Arsenal, which sees him earn around £55million over the course of three seasons. Tottenham’s gamble on Gareth Bale has also not paid off, aside from an excellent spell at the beginning of last month, the Welshman has been almost non-existent in José Mourinho’s side this season – could the money have been better spent elsewhere in the squad?
At the other end of the table Newcastle’s decision to be patient with Steve Bruce has landed them in relegation trouble, as has the inability of Brighton’s forwards to put away chances – could Graham Potter have invested in a more proven goalscorer last summer? Wolves, meanwhile, have struggled without Jimenez – was Fabio Silva the right man to bring in as Jota’s replacement?
