This is the story of Michael Ferrick, a 19 year old unemployed teenager from the St James’s area of West Belfast.

Michael has had to face tough decisions his whole life by growing up in a troubled neighbourhood which sits in the 10% for social and economic deprivation in the UK, with rates of crime, suicide and teenage pregnancy all above the national average. Living here means dying younger, learning less and suffering more.

However, having recognised a digital skills shortage in the UK, BT has established a nationwide project of up-skilling 10m British people with essential digital skills training, aimed to help young adults like Michael.

This is Michael's story on how football kept him out of trouble, and BT's Work Ready has helped him take a step in a career.
