Valtteri Bottas Tests the NEW 2022 18-Inch Tyres, Mercedes-AMG F1 W10, Imola Circuit, April 21, 2021

Today Valtteri Bottas is once again driving at the Imola circuit aboard the Mercedes-AMG F1 W10 EQ Power + The reason lies in the first of the two days where, together with the tire manufacturer Pirelli, the Mercedes drivers will continue developing the new 18-inch tires they will use in the next 2022 Formula One season. Yesterday the first to take to the track was Lewis Hamilton. After the tests hed at the Jerez circuit with Ferrari and later in Bahrain again with Ferrari and Alpine, it's up to Mercedes to test with slick dry tires. The single-seater of the 2019 season is used with suspensions and other components suitably modified to accommodate the larger diameter tires. The current 2021 car, the W12 E Performance, is not adopted, certainly to not accumulate kilometres at the power unit and compromise its reliability. The understandable decision as it would be the same engine used during the races of the current season, and there is no need to wear it for tests. Recall that the second race of the Formula 1 world championship has just taken place in this spectacular circuit. Valtteri Bottas was involved in a frightening accident with the young George Russell, luckily for both of them without consequences. The crash that took place at the end of the straight before the Tamburello curve practically destroyed both cars. The Mercedes-AMG F1 W10 EQ Power + single-seater adopts the 1.6-litre V6 Turbo engine moved by the 8-speed + RM sequential gearbox; traction is rear. The frame is in carbon fibre with a honeycomb structure; the car's total weight is 743 kg. In the 2019 season, it hit the target of world champion for both titles, drivers and manufacturers. Out of 21 races disputed, it won on 15 occasions obtaining 10 pole positions and 9 fastest laps. Enjoy! ????

Oggi Valtteri Bottas è nuovamente tornato a guidare sul circuito di Imola a bordo della Mercedes-AMG F1 W10 EQ Power+ Il motivo risiede nella seconda delle due giornate dove assieme al costruttore di penumatici Pirelli i piloti Mercedes continueranno lo sviluppo delle nuove gomme da 18 pollici che verranno impiegati nella prossima stagione 2022 di Formula Uno. Ieri il primo a scendere in pista è stato Lewis Hamilton. Dopo le prove effettuate sul circuito di Jerez con la Ferrari e successivamente in Bahrain nuovamente con Ferrari ed Alpine, ora tocca alla casa tedesca effettuare i test con le coperture slick da asciutto. Viene impiegata la monoposto della stagione 2019 con sospensioni ed altri componenti opportunamente modificati per ospire gli pneumatici di maggior diametro. Non viene adottata l'attuale vettura 2021, la W12 E Performance, sicuramente per non accumulare chilometri alla power unit e pregiudicarne l'affidabilità. Decisione comprensibile inquanto sarebbe lo stesso motore impiegato durante le gare della stagione in corso e non è il caso di usurarlo per dei test. Ricordiamo che in questo spettacolare circuito si è appena svolta la seconda gara del campionato del mondo di Formula 1. Valtteri Bottas è stato coinvolto in uno spaventoso incidente assieme al giovane George Russell, fortunatamente per entrambi senza conseguenze. Lo scontro avvenuto alla fine del rettilineo prima della curva Tamburello ha praticamente distrutto entrambe le vetture. La monoposto Mercedes-AMG F1 W10 EQ Power+ adotta il motore da 1.6-Litri V6 Turbo mosso dal cambio sequenziale a 8 rapporti + RM; la trazione è posteriore. Il telaio è in fibra di carbonio con struttura a nido d'ape, il peso complessivo dell'auto è di 743 Kg. Nella stagione 2019 ha centrato l'obbiettivo di campione del mondo per entrambi i titoli, piloti e costruttori. Su 21 gare disputate è stata vincente in 15 occasioni ottenendo 10 pole-position e 9 giri veloci. Buona visione! ????
