VW Golf R MK7 VS Ferrari 488 Challenge - Hillclimb Monster Virtual Comparison, Alpe del Nevegal 2022

It seems like an almost impossible comparison, but it's not the one between Giuseppe Aragona's VW Golf R MK7 and Roberto Ragazzi's Ferrari 488 Challenge. I filmed both Italian pilots in action during the 48th edition of the Alpe del Nevegal 2022 Hill Climb. Although the cars are entered in two different classes, E1-+3000 for the Golf and GT-GTSCUP for the Ferarri, both scored an almost perfectly identical final time. So, as often happens, I felt like comparing them virtually, without any chronometric and instrumental pretensions, but only visually, at the points where we filmed the cars. The VW Golf, built by LM Tech and Aereus Squadra Corse, is based on the bodywork of the TCR model into which mechanics from Audi have been inserted. The 2.5-Liter turbo TFSI 5-cylinder engine capable of developing 600HP is moved by a DSG gearbox. The all-wheel drive also makes it an accurate missile in hill climbs. On the other hand, we have the Ferrari 488 Challenge, which adopts the 3.9-Liter Twin-Turbo V8 engine, which develops 670Hp combined with the 7-speed gearbox with double clutch. In this case, the traction is rear. And it is precisely this, the very different types of cars, the different placement of the engine, traction and probably weight, that makes the challenge very interesting and with an unexpected result. Sembra un confronto quasi impossibile ma in realtà non lo è quello tra la VW Golf R MK7 di Giuseppe Aragona e la Ferrari 488 Challenge di Roberto Ragazzi. Ho filmato entrambi i piloti italiani in azione durante l'edizione numero 48 della cronoscalata Alpe del Nevegal 2022. Pur essendo le vetture iscritte in due classi differenti, E1-+3000 per la Golf e GT-GTSCUP per la Ferarri, entrambe hanno fatto segnare un tempo finale quasi perfettamente identico. Così, come spesso accade, mi è venuta voglia di confrontarle virtualmente, senza nessuna pretesa cronometrica e strumentale, ma solo visiva, nei punti un cui abbiamo filmato le vetture. La VW Golf, costruita da LM Tech and Aereus Squadra Corse si basa sulla carrozzeria del modello TCR a cui è stata inserita una meccanica di provenienza Audi. Il motore da 2.5-Litri turbo TFSI a 5 cilindri capace di sviluppare 600HP è mosso dal cambio DSG. La trazione integrale la rende inoltre un vero missile nelle corse in salita. Dall'altra parte abbiamo la Ferrari 488 Challenge che adotta il motore V8 Twin-Turbo da 3.9-Litri che sviluppa 670Hp abbinato al cambio a 7 rapporti con doppia frizione. In questo caso la trazione è posteriore. Ed è proprio questo, la tipologia così diversa delle vetture, la differente collocazione del motore, trazione e probabilmente peso che rende la sfida molto interessante e con un risultato inaspettato.
