Zhu Ting (Chinese: 朱婷; pinyin: Zhū Tíng; born 29 November 1994) is a Chinese female volleyball player.[1] She is the Outside Hitter and Captain of the Chinese women's volleyball national team.[2] She played for Turkish club Vakıfbank Istanbul from 2016 to 2019, and currently plays for Tianjin Bohai Bank.
Zhu and the Chinese national team have won several gold medals in international competition, including in the 2016 Olympic Games and the 2019 World Cup. Since her debut in 2011, Zhu has received 13 MVP awards at all levels of competition, including the MVP award of Rio Olympic Games 2016. She is widely regarded as one of the best and most decorated indoor volleyball players of all time. She is also the highest paid professional volleyball player in the world, male or female, as of the 2018/2019 season.
In March, Vakifbank beat Rusaian club Dinamo Moscow in second round of Quarter-finals of 2018–19 CEV Women's Champions League, Zhu scored 17 points with over 60% attack successful rate, which helped the team to enter Semi-finals.
In April to May, Vakifbank beat Eczacıbaşı VitrA again in the Final of the 2018–19 Turkish Women's Volleyball League with an overall score of 3:2, and won the championship title. In the 5 matches of Finals, Zhu scored 106 attack points with 50% attack successful rate, ranks the first in all spikers, she finally again awarded tournament MVP award.
On 7 May, Zhu and Vakifbank announced that Zhu will leave the team temporarily, while she have to concentrate on the training with national team for the 2020 Summer Olympics. In the next season, Zhu will return to Chinese league, but the club she will join is undecided.
In September, Zhu played her second FIVB World Cup in Japan. She lead team China to win the all 11 matches, eventually Chinese team defending the champion. Zhu performed well as always, awarded second MVP award of FIVB World Cup and elected Best Outside Spiker.
